With the huge visibility and success of NYC’s CitiBike, there’s a great deal of interest in bringing bike share to the west bank of the Hudson River. At tomorrow’s meeting, Jersey City’s City Council will vote on a resolution to lay the groundwork for local bike share. Cyclists are encouraged to attend the council meeting and voice your support for bike share in Jersey City. The meeting is at 6pm Wednesday December 18th 2013 at City Hall, 280 Grove Street, Jersey City.
The proposed system would include three municipalities: the cites of Jersey City and Hoboken, and the Township of Weehawken. The resolution is on page 19 of this meeting agenda – item Z32, resolution number 13.863. The agenda item reads:
Resolution authorizing a cooperative purchasing agreement among the City of Jersey City, City of Hoboken and Township of Weehawken in connection with a Bike Sharing system.
There’s additional information on pages 438-443 of the city’s on-line agenda documentation pdf. It includes the full-on legal text of the three-party cooperative purchasing agreement. More coverage of the planned 2014 bike share roll-out at this NJ.com article.
