Nun delivering remarks blessing at the 2012 Blessing of the Bicycles
This morning was the 9th annual Blessing of the Bicycles at Los Angeles’ Good Samaritan Hospital. It’s a bike-attention event I enjoy each year. Ceremonies include remarks from health care folks, a cadre of multi-denominational clerics, and a handful of elected officials. There’s always a great cross-section of L.A. cyclists, including ridazz from various non-profits and agencies. Plus free breakfast! Thanks Good Samaritan!
Below are some images from this morning’s Blessing of the Bicycles. More coverage at the LADOT website and Metro website.

The ceremony concludes with a celebratory lap around the block
Golden Spoke honoree Alex Baum being interviewed by the L.A. Times. Baum is a long-time bicycling advocate pushing for L.A. City bike facilities for decades. He is a current member and former chair of the city’s Bicycle Advisory Committee. He has the honor of the L.A. River Bikeway Bridge over Los Feliz Boulevard being named the Alex Baum bridge.
Looking forward to the 10th Annual next year!!
